1st day "going down the Loire":

Candes saint Martin, a sailors' village, the confluence point of the Loire and the Vienne – Montsoreau, Saumur, the château and riding school, lunch in Saumur at the «l'Escargot» restaurant 02 41 51 20 88. After lunch, a tour of the Royal Abbey of Fontevrault, the largest monastic site in all the West. Return to Marçay

2nd day «the treasures of the Renaissance»:

Amboise, its royal château and the Clos Lucé, a manor where Leonardo da Vinci lived. Lunch in Amboise. Depart for Chenonceau.

3rd day «la Rabelaisie»:

Chinon, its old streets, a tour of the medieval fortress where Joan of Arc met the Dauphin Charles VII. Lunch in Chinon at the «Chapeau Rouge» 02 47 98 08 08. Tour of La Devinière, the house where François Rabelais was born. A few kilometres away, the village of Seuilly and its abbey.
